It’s The Thought That Counts

We’re not really sure why Calvin loves swords so much, aside from the obvious reason that they are awesome. He’s been obsessed with them since he was a kid, and since no one argues with a guy who collects swords his stride remains unbroken.
Victor’s hobbies lay on the less expensive side of the fence, but have nonetheless taken a toll on his wallet. But who can resist the allure of the trade paperback? You get like six comics, all arranged in one book for a relatively low price. Of course, when you buy six of those, the word “exponential” springs to mind. Couple that with the sweet T-shirt he bought and you get a recipe for excess.
Luckily the boys generally alternate in their buying cycles, so the dark period of one’s finances signals the abundance of the other’s. However, there are strange forces which sometimes cause a conflux of poverty for both Victor and Calvin; it is in those times that desparate measures must be undertaken.
That’s not to say that Warren’s a bad dude. He could easily save the president, sure, but usually he’s generous with his finances. In fact, his view on money is that it is merely a means by which to acquire more money. He’s just…intimidating. He’s apparently the kind of guy who considers nations to be commodities. Although last Christmas was extravagant even by his standards, it was only slightly so: two years ago Warren bought his parents Boise, Idaho. They must really like potatoes or something.
In other news, according to nearly every blog on the web the show Hiatus has been cancelled indefintely, which makes me want to sit on a knife. It was easily one of the most innovative shows of the 21st century, and losing it is like being given a delicious Boston Creme doughnut and being shot in the face right before getting to the custard-filled center.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the show, it was a space opera that fused all the intensity and wonder of a sci-fi show with the gritty realism of a detective show, and did so without the hackneyed trappings of either. It was at once brilliant and brutal, intoxicating and sobering; it was the sakura of television, and like the beautiful blossom it was far too short-lived.
But take heart! Word is spreading about a grass-roots movement to bring the show back to the people. The Save Hiatus initiative is mobilizing, and they’re looking for hearty men and women to help fight the good fight. Head over to www.savehiatus.com to find out how to be a part of the action!

You know what this comic could use? That demonic radio T. V. that started wailing like a harpie at me and wouldn’t stop even after I unplugged it and left it in my truck.

    HAPPY OMINOUS TUESDAY!

That’s what sakura means? I was hoping it meant warrior-tween, or something like that.
